[Athi River, June 11, 2025] Daystar University, in partnership with Antara Health, Jubilee Insurance, Chancery Wright Insurance Brokers, and Maisha FITI, organized a two-day comprehensive wellness camp at Daystar University Athi River campus on June 10th and 11th 2025. Themed “Step into Your Wellness Era,” the event aimed to promote physical and mental wellbeing among staff members.
The wellness camp provided a wide range of essential health checks and consultations, all conveniently available at the PAC Court.
Jubilee Health Insurance members, mostly faculty and staff accessed all services for free, while non-members (students) were able to access basic services for free.
Services offered included:
-
Mental health screening
- Body composition review
- Lipid profile tests
- Random blood sugar (HbA1c) testing
- Psychologist consultations
- Nutrition consultations
- Doctor’s review
This initiative marked an important step in supporting the overall health of the university community. Particularly, the inclusion of mental health and support highlighted the growing awareness of emotional wellbeing in the workplace.
Ms. Hannah Wambui, the customer onboarding lead at Antara Health, emphasized the importance of corporate investment in staff wellbeing.
“Workplace wellness has direct impact on productivity and presence at work,” she noted, adding that when organizations provide access to quality healthcare especially for mental health and chronic conditions, they ease the financial burden on staff, facilitate early diagnosis, and support employees to stay focused.
Faculty and staff also got the opportunity to discuss and get advice on nutrition from Antara nutritionists.
In addition to check-ups, the Antara health team assisted attendees in setting up the Antara App which facilitates online consultations, tracking one’s health goals, or making health related inquiries.
By hosting the wellness camp, the Daystar University Human Resource Department, reinforced its dedication to creating a work environment where health is a priority and support is within reach.
The partnership with Antara Health and other stakeholders not only empowered staff to take charge of their health but also strengthened the University’s caring culture.
