[Athi River, Wednesday September 11, 2024]  Freshmen who reported for the September 2024 intake were officially admitted to Daystar University in a matriculation ceremony which took place on Wednesday September 11, 2024.

The ceremony commenced with academic procession by the University’s faculty adorned in their academic regalia.

The DVC ARSA, Prof. Faith Nguru, officially welcomed the new students to an adventure-filled life on campus. She stressed on the importance of class attendance, explaining that their presence in class was not a mere requirement but a vital part of their academic endeavor at Daystar University, seeing that each class aids students to achieve their academic goals.

Prof. Nguru further urged the new students to embrace every opportunity to participate and learn, as this will enrich their stay at Daystar University. She also called on the students to embrace the University’s culture with its values and rituals; a culture of commitment and responsibility.

“We aim to transform you so that you can become academically proficient innovators and problem solvers,” said Prof. Nguru, further urging the new students to endeavor to integrate faith with learning.

The DVC ARSA also advised the students to actively engage and participate in activities such as sport, clubs and associations which will enable them to easily adopt to university life.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro said that education is not just about acquiring knowledge, but a relentless pursuit of truth and understanding. He echoed the University’s ethos of Excellence, Transformation and Servant leadership, encouraging the students to embrace those ethos as they navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The VC also stressed on chapel attendance which he underscored as important for character formation, given that Daystar University is founded on Christian principles.

The VC further revealed that the University had set aside Ksh 5 Million to support students who want to innovate. “Each one of you has an equal chance to become what you want to become, but you have to submit to your reality and know your story,” he said.

“Matriculation stipulates who we want you to become,” said the Vice Chancellor as he officially admitted the students to Daystar University.

A key highlight of the matriculation ceremony is signing of the declaration of assent by each new student, a tradition in Daystar University that signifies their acceptance and commitment to abiding with the University’s code of conduct.

Following the matriculation ceremony, students selected courses on Thursday 12th September and began classes on Monday 16th September.
